The band will be doing a musical tour of Europe sponsored by ILLA, an association which introduces the culture and promotes the artists of Iran in Europe. ILLA is named after a hero in Ferdowsi's epic Shahnameh.
The band performed Iranian traditional music in Barcelona, Paris, and Brussels a few years ago.
Iranian traditional music concerts have been received warmly in Europe in recent years.
Rozaneh
The six women of the Iranian Ensemble Rozaneh interpret mystical poets. The two singers were trained in Avaz , the classical vocal rpertoire, by the great Master Sharam Nazeri. Interviewed at length, they do not speak on the condition of women artists in their country. But they proclaim their admiration for the Sufi poet Rumi. "He is my master, my physician and my source of inspiration. He teaches me about life, death, love, pain and joy", says Zohreh. Thus the luminous freedom of their sweet voices, wide, full, slightly trembling, sing "O God, bestow upon me a heart as vast as the sea".
