সুলতান নাসিরউদ্দীন মাহমুদ শাহের (১৪৩৫-৫৯) আমলে খান আল-আজম উলুগ খানজাহান সুন্দরবনের কোলঘেঁষে খলিফাতাবাদ রাজ্য গড়ে তোলেন। খানজাহান বৈঠক করার জন্য একটি দরবার হল গড়ে তোলেন, যা পরে ষাট গম্বুজ মসজিদ হয়। তুঘলকি ও জৌনপুরী নির্মাণশৈলী এতে সুস্পষ্ট। মসজিদে পূর্ব থেকে পশ্চিমে ১১ সারিতে সাতটি করে ৭৭টি গম্বুজ রয়েছে, যদিও বলা হয় ষাট গম্বুজ। ঢাকার গাবতলী থেকে ঈগল, সোহাগসহ আরো কিছু পরিবহনের বাসে বাগেরহাট যাওয়া যায়। ভাড়া ২৫০ থেকে ৩৫০ টাকা। বাসস্ট্যান্ড থেকে ষাট গম্বুজ মসজিদ সাত কিলোমিটার। রিকশাভাড়া ২০ টাকা।
